castello-amandolea

The castle Ruffo di Amendolea, the medieval fortress located in the town by the same name, is in the center of what is known as the Hellenistic area of the province of Reggio Calabria. The castle stood in a highly strategic position, with the valley of the Amendolea torrent forming the boundary between Locri and Reggio in historical times.

Bova is an Italian community within the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria with just 442 inhabitants. It is included on the list of “I Borghi più belli d’Italia” (“The most beautiful villages of Italy”). The small village is considered the cultural capital of Bovesia, and therefore the capital of Greek culture in Calabria.
